We live in a world of unrelenting noise, and we have a disturbing tendency to reward the loudest voices. Yet, as students of history know, many landmark accomplishments have been achieved by people who tended to be quiet and introspective. The Gettysburg Address was only 272 words long. Introverts have given us Google, the theory of gravity, Harry Potter, and Charlie Brown. But how do introverts survive at a negotiation table or in a courtroom? What can extroverts learn from introverts that will make them better negotiators, lawyers, executives…and people? This CLE answers these questions, among others, and draws lessons from Susan Cain’s New York Times bestseller Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.

Speakers

Carl A. Salisbury has a national reputation as a policyholder lawyer and has devoted more than twenty-five years of his professional practice to the representation of policyholders in claims against their insurance companies.

Eugene Killian Jr. focuses on employment law and complex commercial litigation issues, served as trial counsel and Court-approved mediator. He has won two major jury trials - one relating to malpractice by an environmental engineering firm, and the other involving insurance coverage for serious hail damage to an apartment complex.
