Recent Critical Changes in European and Canadian Patent Practice: (1) To UP(C) or Not to UP(C)?; and (2) Navigating the Oct. 3, 2022 Canadian Patent Rule Changes - New Hurdles in Canadian Prosecution

To UP(C) or Not to UP(C)?
Iain Armstrong and Philippa Griffin will guide you through some key changes that will shortly be taking place in European patent law. They’ll explain the new Unified Patent Court and the Unitary Patent, look at the implications these have for your clients’ patents and applications, and provide some practical advice on the actions you should be taking now in response to these.

Navigating the Oct. 3, 2022 Canadian Patent Rule Changes - New Hurdles in Canadian Prosecution
Dr. Hans Schroeder will examine important changes in the most recent Canadian patent regulations including the introduction of excess claim fees, requests for continued examination and conditional notices of allowance despite Canada maintaining a restrictive divisional filing practice. He will also explore strategies to obtain broad protection for Canadian patents in view of these new changes.
